This is a test run of a futuristic locomotive I scratch built, running on the Penn State Model Railroad Club HO scale layout. It has 54 LEDs, a digitrax 3 function decoder and an Arduino. The light bars are synchronized to the rotation of the drive motor of the locomotive, as is the spinning turbine, which can also be independently controlled to offer start up sequences and other animations. The shell is machined from a block of 6061 aluminum, then belt sanded and hand sanded and polished for the mirror like finish. Frame is from a used LIfelike 2000 SD9.
