US EdTech startups raised $2.2 billion from only 130 deals in 2020 — a 30% increase from the previous year. It’s safe to say that the EdTech industry is booming. Right now, innovation and ideas are changing the online learning experience in ways that seemed impossible a few short years ago.
But with excitement also comes uncertainty… how can learning designers and professionals stay on top of the change? What do we need to know to keep delivering engaging, effective learning experiences?

About the panelists:
Dr. Luke Hobson
Dr. Luke Hobson is the Senior Instructional Designer and Program Manager at MIT. He is the founder of the Instructional Design Institute and the host of the Dr. Luke Hobson Podcast and YouTube channel. He recently self-published his first book called, What I Wish I Knew Before Becoming an Instructional Designer. His areas of interest in instructional design are Scenario-Based Learning (SBL), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and podcasts for online learning.

Peter Shea
Peter is the co-editor (along with Peggy Maki) of the recently published book Transforming Digital Learning and Assessment: A Guide to Available and Emerging Practices and Building Institutional Consensus. He is also the founder of the Facebook group Instructional Designers in Education which has over 12,000 members worldwide.
