Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the wise? Perhaps not, but there is a good chance that you will after new news about the upcoming Disney Plus series Star Wars: The Acolyte broke Tuesday afternoon. This scoop from The Illuminerdi detailed things such as the supposed production name (“Paradox”), the name of our main female protagonist (Aura), and confirmed that the series is set to take place in the waning days of the High Republic Era. This last bit of information is the most important as that would place the timeline for this show roughly 50 years before the events of Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and roughly 82 years before the Battle of Yavin. This news has left us wondering: Will Darth Plagueis finally make his long awaited debut on the big screen in Star Wars? There are many reasons to believe that this will be the case. Recently, Lucasfilm and Star Wars have been referring to Plagueis in multiple different projects. The dark lord of the Sith was mentioned in the Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker novelization in regards to his involvement with trying to create a Force Dyad (the bond that exists between Kylo Ren/Ben Solo and Rey Skywalker). Two weeks ago Lucasfilm finally gave us our first official look at what Darth Plagueis actually looks like with the release of key art for the upcoming Secrets of the Sith novel. Now we have confirmation that the upcoming mystery thriller series that focuses explicitly on the Sith will be set during the height of Darth Plagueis. It is hard to believe that Lucasfilm and Star Wars would explicitly choose this period of time rather than any of the hundreds of other years the Sith existed if they did not intend on including Darth Plagueis (or perhaps a young Palpatine) in some regard. We already know that Lucasfilm has plans to use their Disney Plus shows to tie the sequel trilogy to the prequel and original trilogies when Jon Favreau confirmed earlier this week that the Mandalorian would tie into the sequel trilogy. Needless to say, even though this series is a few years down the road we are very excited to see where this one takes us. We will watch its career with great interest!

This has been a huge week for new Star Wars news! On Monday, we received our first look at everyone’s favorite bounty hunter with the premiere of The Book of Boba Fett official trailer and now this news about Star Wars: The Acolyte on Tuesday. However, its about to ramp up even more with Disney Plus day scheduled for November 12th where we will hopefully get our first look at the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series and perhaps an extended look at the upcoming Andor series as well!
