SpaceX is considered the number one company in the space industry. And its owner is the richest man in the world – Elon Musk with a worth of a little over $300 billion – more than Bill Gates and Warren Buffett combined.
According to the latest news, SpaceX at over $100 Billion is now the world’s second most valued private company, trailing only TikTok parent Bytedance. SpaceX’s new valuation makes it one of the rare private “centicorn” or “hectocorn” companies in the world.
So, have you ever imagined what the factory of a hundred billion-dollar company looks like? It’s a stunning marvel of ultra-modern industrial sophistication, isn’t it?

So, what’s inside the Starship facility?

Starship is considered the key to SpaceX’s space explorations, from orbit to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Elon Musk not only envisions returning astronauts to the moon and colonizing the Red Planet, but he also aims to create a future where Starship will serve as a city-to-city transportation vehicle on Earth, like an airplane. The starship would transport 1,000 passengers at hypersonic speeds anywhere on Earth in under 1 hour. SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this future a reality.
Achieving this historic achievement would require a major leap forward in spacecraft development, both in quality and quantity.
As Musk said, “We need, probably, on the order of 1,000 ships, And each of those ships would have more payload than the Saturn V—and be reusable.”
To reach the target, Elon Musk needs a production line. But it is not easy to build a factory and production line to mass produce the starship.
“Production is at least 1,000 percent harder than making a single thing.” And the engineering team plays a key role in this process. The given solution is building “ a machine that makes a machine.”
So how’s it going?
Musk used to say that “find a way or make a way. If conventional thinking makes your mission impossible, then unconventional thinking is necessary.” And luckily, Elon Musk has had a lot of practicing experience with this over at Tesla when the production of the model 3 car was overflowing. Therefore, Musk and SpaceX did not wait around for a large factory to be built before building the rockets. They built tents in Texas for Starship instead of a multi-million dollar new building. This was done by a company called Spring Structures, which completed the construction of a giant tent in the Tesla parking lot in only two weeks.
