A session by Jessica Cronstein (New York City Department of Transportation), Joseph Juhnke (CarrierDirect), Dawn Miller (Coord), April Schneider (Stantec) and Jason Schrieber (Stantec)
Curbside access has increasingly become a point of consternation between seemingly disparate users. Deliveries, pick up and drop off, waste management, pedestrian access, parking, sidewalk amenities, and more recently restaurant seating are all vying for curb space, with demand varying across time of day, street type, and land uses. Additionally, the travel lanes abutting the curb – bus lanes, bike lanes, or vehicular travel lanes – have their own requirements for maintaining a certain order. Having access to the curb has proven to be a significant economic, mobility, and maintenance challenge – and opportunity. This session will focus on the numerous constituencies vying for the curb, our growing practice within this space, and technology solutions for curbside management.
