1 2 Introduction to Smart City Policies and Cases in Korea

Based on Korea’s national plan for research and development for 2021, the country is
pressing forward to strengthen digital capacity and to innovate emerging technologies
according to the local context. The session presents smart city policies that support
achieving the ideal goal in smart city development, and the exemplary practices that
can be replicable in other cities.
