Sadly Television presenter and YouTuber Emily Hartridge died when the e-scooter she was riding collided with a lorry at a roundabout in London recently.

The Department of Transport classes e-scooters, electric scooters, hoverboards, electric skateboards, twist-throttle electric bikes, Segway’s, Electric Unicycle’s and One Wheel’s as ‘Personal Light Electric Vehicle (PLEV)’ because they’re powered by a motor and says they can only be used on private property. So they are all currently illegal in the UK.

If you are found riding a Personal Electric Vehicle on roads, pavements or cycle paths, you could be fined £300 AND given 6 points on your Driving Licence – even if you don’t have one.
