Challenging Western-centred assumptions around a modernist approach to art jewellery, Melanie Eddy will discuss her own practice and approach to creating sculptural jewellery, alongside the work and influences of a selection of jewellers from Africa and the Black diaspora including Art Smith, Jacqueline Rabun and Satta Matturi.

Melanie Eddy creates sculptual jewellery that uses geometry to explore the relationship of form to the body. She is an Associate Lecturer on the MA Design programme at Central Saint Martins College, a Director of the ACJ, and is one of the founders of the Jewellery Futures Fund, a charitable organisation looking to effect change through a programme of scholarships, paid internships and wider industry engagement.
