Speedrunning the sixth level “Exodus” in Halo: Reach on easy difficulty for the No-AA% Category
// Settings :
Game : Halo Reach on Steam (PC)
Difficulty : Easy (No-AA% Category)
Level : Exodus
Time : 11:14 IGT
// Personal notes :
My PB (11:14 with ingame timer) set on 20/12/2021.
No-AA% means that I can’t use any armor ability (so no sprinting or picking up any other AA’s such as armor lock, jetpack etc…)
Boosting in vehicles is allowed though!
Really proud of this run tbh since it contains some new pathing and a trick jump I discovered, so that’s pretty pog.
Start missed the grenade boost a bit, but that’s just a minor timeloss. Nothing special until the first brutes, I actually got doorskip 😀
Atrium had a messy part due to the grenades not killing the enemies so I lost a few seconds there. My best teleport into the elevator is a 2:58 with perfect RNG, so I lost 5-6 seconds there, but can’t complain cause the next section is pretty swag.
The playground section utilizes some new routing which saves a tiny second, but the trickjumps with the hammer saves up to 8 seconds.
These hammer jumps are hard to pull off, especially the grenade hammer jump and the jumps over the chasms. The hammer jump on the box is actually a VERY hard jump to get. Followed by another sketchy chasm jump.
Got a bit trolled by the conc brute since he armor locked (bit my fault since I had dumb luck with getting a needler instead of a plasma pistol), so lost 2 seconds there… Sadge 🙁
The conc jumps were a bit sloppish by missing some landings, but at least I didn’t need to retry any of the conc jumps.
The next part is just walking, haven’t found any timesaves there so far, but I kinda tried to optimize the helipad section. It’s a fast clear for No-AA%, but still had a few hiccups, could have gone 2 seconds faster.
I was actually stressing out during the autoscroller section since I was on a +20 sec pace for WR. So I kinda choked the grenade boosts at the beach section. Got some dumb RNG with the wraith being in my way so I couldn’t perform a drift for better parking. The stress got to me at the end since I missed the button because I miscalculated my jump and landed on the slope part of the platform. Lost 2 seconds there as well.
All in all, even with the tiny timelosses to get a sub 11:10, I’m pretty happy with this run, since it’s not an easy time to beat with all the trick jumps. Still beatable, but I’ll give this IL category a rest for now 😀
