China has made new breakthroughs in key projects in areas of energy storage and transportation.
Capable of shipping 99,000 cubic meters of liquefied gas across the Pacific Ocean, the world’s first very large ethane carrier (VLEC), “Pacific Ineos Belstaff,” was named and delivered by Chinese shipbuilder Jiangnan Shipyard Group in Shanghai on Tuesday.
As the largest carrier for ethane in the world by far, the vessel features the Type-B cargo quartet containment system “BrilliancE” developed by Jiangnan Shipyard. B stands for Type-B and E stands for ethane and ethylene.
After delivery, the vessel mainly serves the long-distance transportation of liquefied ethane in the international market. The new cargo tank can also be used for the transportation of liquefied petroleum gas, liquefied ethylene and other liquefied gas cargoes.
Meanwhile, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), the country’s largest oil and gas producer, said that its full-bore gas production reached 154 million cubic meters on Tuesday, a record high in a single day in terms of gas production.
In order to ensure a safe and efficient gas supply this winter and next spring, CNPC plans to arrange gas production from gas storage to increase by 16.3 percent year on year, and increase daily peak capacity by 25 million cubic meters year on year.
The China Three Gorges Corporation said on Tuesday that the throughput of the Three Gorges Dam, the world’s largest hydropower project, reached a record high of 150.58 million tonnes in 2021, up 9.29 percent year on year. Among them, the dam’s ship locks registered a throughput of 146.44 million tonnes.
The Three Gorges project, which became operational in 2003, consists of a dam measuring 2,309 meters long and 185 meters high, and five-tier ship locks on the northern and southern sides.

世界上第一艘超大型乙烷运输船（VLEC）“Pacific Ineos Belstaff”于周二在上海由中国造船厂江南造船集团命名并交付，能够跨越太平洋运送 99,000 立方米的液化气。
作为目前世界上最大的乙烷运输船，该船采用江南造船厂开发的B型货物四方围护系统“BrilliancE”。 B代表B型，E代表乙烷和乙烯。
该船交付后主要服务于国际市场液化乙烷的长途运输。新货舱还可用于运输液化石油气、液化乙烯等液化气货物。
与此同时，中国最大的石油和天然气生产商中国石油天然气集团公司（CNPC）周二表示，其全口径天然气产量达到 1.54 亿立方米，创下单日天然气产量新高。
为保障今冬明春安全高效供气，中石油拟安排储气库产气量同比增长16.3%，日高峰产能同比增加2500万立方米。
中国三峡集团公司周二表示，全球最大的水电项目三峡大坝2021年吞吐量创历史新高，达1.5058亿吨，同比增长9.29%。其中，大坝船闸吞吐量14644万吨。
三峡工程于2003年投入运营，由一座长2309米、高185米的大坝和南北两侧的五层船闸组成。
