A world as futuristic as Doraemon and as magical as Harry Potter.

A demonstration experiment of “Digi-POS,” a cashless self-service register employing contactless and aerial display technology, has been started at six Seven-Eleven stores in Tokyo.
This is the world’s first demonstration experiment in which a touch panel can be operated by means of an image floating in the air without touching the display, and is used in POS cash registers.

The purpose of the experiment is to provide a new shopping experience, verify safe and secure cash register operation for store employees, and improve the efficiency of the cash register counter space. For checkout, customers themselves will read the barcode of the purchased items and operate the cashier.

Payment methods supported include nanaco, transportation e-money, iD, QUICPay+, Rakuten Edy, credit/debit cards, barcode payment, and Apple Pay. However, alcohol, tobacco, postage stamps, postcards, stamps, courier services, public utility bills, Internet bill payment, store drop-off, money coupons, and electronic money charges are not available.
