With years passing the interest towards finding the best alternative fuel and source of energy has only been heating up. The search of transportation systems and cars with minimum or zero emissions has brought car manufacturers to the usage of solar and electric power in their cars.

But this is not the final scientific destination and there are still many brave car concepts and inventions out there and one of them is the car powered by compressed air.

The concept of using compressed air as a way of propelling objects and transport is not new but the creators of Honda Air concept seem to have put a prototype of a future car – a vehicle, which will use a very affordable and accessible power source – the air.

In order to successfully take on the future of vehicles powered by alternative fuel, Honda Air is fitted with an advanced mechanisms and technology – this light 800-lb car runs on compressed air and a pneumatic regulator system. Apart from using built-in “fuel” tanks, the turbo vacuums draw in external air flow during operation. Such modification is aimed at achieving a 100 mile-range on a single tank.

Even though this car is only a prototype, the experts believe that vehicles powered by compressed air are a thing of the future, especially if they will work in tandem with other alternative fuels, such as electricity.
