An electronic throttle software defect permits energy to flow to the motor driving the board forward even when the rider is not controlling it. This is a setup for falls and injuries to the rider and bystanders. About 93,000 of these hoverboards were sold at Best Buy stores nationwide and at Bestbuy.com.
