// Personal notes :
My PB (18:56 with ingame timer) at moment of upload on 20/05/2022.
I couldn’t believe I got this time when I pressed the button at the end. Was really stoked about this time, pretty glad since it’s one of the harder levels in my opinion.
Start went okayish, not a perfect clear with the skirmishers but at least it’s decent. Suicide grunt rooms are RNG when it comes to needler drops and for LASO you need a lot of them to even have decent ammo.
Tried to go with the AI frozen strat and mix in some sticks. The nades didn’t stick but it was still a double kill. The door enemies didn’t hide or did trolling moves so that went fine well. I got a bit greedy with the last snipe shots though, should have taken it slower to hit an extra brute, but at least I got the majority of them. The phantom enemies were a bit trolly, lost a bit of time there because of dodgers, so I didn’t have a lot of ammo for the last few brutes. And also didn’t keep track of my nade count so lost all my nades on the second chieftain.
Jetpack section went sloppy, didn’t get the slide in I wanted and leg route feels so slow in my opinion, don’t know why. In the future I should just take the hammer to get some boosts in and have faster jetpacks, since there’s a fresh DMR later on. Failed the jetpack to helipad, but it legit kept boosting whilst I was going for a midair stop and wasn’t even touching the jetpack function. So learned some routing setup from this run.
Went for my invincible marine strat, which is slower but consistently safe. Although for some reason one marine didn’t want to have the fuel rod… That was odd. Went a bit slow because I lost time with that marine and couldn’t get any shots in myself cause I’m bad.
Went for the normal falcon ride, which is dangerous but wanted to clear out the enemies at the beach, which is harder than it looks. Beach itself is just awful, was slowed down because of an enemy barely surviving and had dumb marines getting into my hog, so I needed to get them out. Second button was VERY sketchy, I legit thought it was over there and that the hammer brute would get me. I choked by getting into the turret but got lucky that I didn’t get sniped by any nades from the brutes or the wraith mortar. Also my position was known at the last button, so if the game lasted a few frames longer, it would prolly have been a game over there. But I got lucky for once 😀
First sub 20, I’m really happy with this. Next time more riskier strats will have to come into play for this, but beach is so afwul, it can try away a run pretty easily. GL to everyone trying to do this IL, the level itself isn’t that hard, but you can die pretty easily which makes it look hard.
// Skulls active:
► Iron – In Solo play, dying reverts the player to the beginning of the level. In cooperate play, any player death reverts to the previous checkpoint.
► Black Eye – No auto-shield regeneration. Only melee attacks cause shields to recharge.
► Tough Luck – Grenades, Needler fire, projectiles (i.e. Rocket Launcher, concussion rifle, and Fuel Rod Cannon) and vehicular charges are evaded more skillfully by the AI. Brutes go Berserk more often and Grunts will turn Kamikaze more often.
► Catch – NPCs throw many more grenades at an alarming rate.
► Cloud – Motion Tracker is fully disabled.
► Famine – Dropped weapons have much less ammunition/charge.
► Thunderstorm – All enemies are promoted to higher ranks.
► Tilt – Enemy defensive resistances/weaknesses are amplified.
► Mythic – All NPC’s health allocation is doubled.
► Blind – Player HUD and weapon model are disabled.
► Grunt Birthday Party – Headshots on Grunts trigger a confetti effect and sounds of children cheering.
► Cowbell – Increased acceleration from explosions.
► IWHBYD – Rare dialogue becomes more common.
