Turkey begins monitoring grain exports from Ukraine.
Analysts Dr. Hanna Shelest in Odessa, and Omer Ozkizilcik in Ankara, discuss the arrangement and why Turkey is best positioned to mediate in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“I would like to be optimistic but unfortunately I need to be very realistic. One of the reasons for this is that less than 24 hours after the agreement was signed in Istanbul last Friday, on Saturday we had a severe attack against Odessa. Exactly against the seaport, and on Sunday, we had an attack against another port so we see that the Russian Federation is demonstrating what it can do, and what it is going to do,” Shelest told i24NEWS.
