Inside Sharjah's futuristic new sky pods

his is what Sharjah’s future mode of transport will look like. Once the high-speed electric sky pods become functional, these Sky Pods will cover 2.4km in less than a minute travelling at 120km/hr. Currently, it travels at a speed of 40km/hour, covering a nascent track of 400 metres. The passenger model can bear a load of four tonnes (with passengers), and the cargo model is capable of delivering 12-metre containers. Initial safety trials are complete even as a longer test track is in the pipeline expected to commence operations ahead of the start of Expo 2020 in October 2021. The path-breaking skyway system was conceptualized in Minsk by Dr Anatoli Unitsky, a scientist and a transport philosopher.
