Considered to be the town of the XXI Century, Thamesmead in London has never become so. The project was developed in an attempt to clear up overcrowded areas, slums and ghettos of London. Thamesmead was built as an experiment to create a futuristic city.

Indeed it has numerous urban planning mistakes. Now Thamesmead suffers from a higher crime rate than the London average. Nevertheless, Thamesmead is a masterpiece of brutalist architecture and a great attempt to solve social issues.
