Note: That’s Wizardry (2017).
Wizardry is a 2017 American computer-animated action adventure fantasy musical film directed by Mikey Wister and produced by Noelle Stevenson (now ND Stevenson) and Alex Hirsch. It was produced by Cyan Jetpack Animation Studios, Regency Enterprises, Dereck Torres Digital Lab, and Dereck Torres Animation Television, and released by Cyan Jetpack Entertainment. It’s deemed as Cyan Jetpack Animation Studios’ first attempt on making a film with a heavy and dark theme and tone.
Premise: The film begins with an 21 year old Audrey (Kristen Stewart), 24 year old Ethan (Seth MacFarlane), and their 75 year old apprentice/guardian Geronimo (Larry Murphy) are being wizards in training so they can take on any foe that stands in there way when they’re older. However, unexpectedly, the village where they live in (Magicaltopia) starts being blown up and destroyed by the wicked sourcerers, and all the highly skilled witches and wizards are at battle, including Geronimo. During the fight, one of the sourcerers, “Walter” (H. Jon Benjamin), attacks and injures Geronimo, whom after the war ends, passes away since his injuries were too fatal to save, leaving all of his belongings to Audrey and Ethan, who attend his funeral and have powerful messages about what Geronimo gave them throughout their lives. Years go by after the death of Geronimo and the two siblings who are now destined to carry on their former master’s legacy and they have become professionals at doing spells and such (kinda). The following evening of that day, they overhear the cries and screams of the villagers and head out to find new villains arising, which are the emperors, whose plan is to do overall the village and then the kingdom. But with carrying on an old master’s legacy and learning how to enhance their powers, they can finally seek to defend the kingdom and the village and make the deceased Geronimo proud.
