Udelv, an automated delivery startup, has unveiled its Transporter self-driving shuttle powered by Intel’s Mobileye autonomous technology at this week’s CES 2022.

Transporter is a cab-less vehicle that is designed for commercial delivery and was developed to help the current challenges faced in logistics: a shortage of drivers and the electrification of fleets.

The autonomous shuttle includes a cargo space that is secure, automated, hot — swappable and modular so it can accommodate many types of delivery businesses. The vehicle can carry up to 2,000 pounds of cargo and make up to 80 stops per run, delivering anything from convenience goods, e-commerce packages, groceries, auto parts, electronics, medical supplies and more.

Mobileye’s Drive self-driving system is powered by the EyeQ 5 system-on-chip designed specifically for automotive applications and includes cameras, lidars and radar sensors. Additionally, Mobileye’s Road Experience Management software gives the Transporter continuously updated maps of the world that are crowdsourced to give the software the ability to navigate in real time.

In early 2021, Mobileye and Udelv announced a partnership that would produce more than 35,000 autonomous delivery vehicles by 2028. The goal was to improve the efficiency of last- and middle-mile delivery services.

At the time, Donlen, a commercial fleet management company based in the U.S., placed a pre-order for 1,000 Transporters in what was called the largest order to date for self-driving delivery vehicles.
