The COVID-19 pandemic continues to expose countless inequalities in our country and community. When schools made the switch to online learning, we quickly realized not every household was equipped with Wi-Fi or internet due to the high costs and unreliable service. This is unacceptable. The internet is essential to our daily lives, whether working or learning from home. Our communities need access to affordable and reliable internet services now.
This week I hosted an online forum with an amazing panel of state, local, and community leaders where we discussed what is working with current affordable internet practices, what is not working, the government programs available that can help with affordability, and how we move forward to address the growing digital inequality in our country.
