Global Warming is spiraling out of control and climate change is reaching alarming levels. In August 2021, The UN shocked the world with its latest report on climate change and just one line said it all, “code red for humanity”. If humans don’t watch out, we will soon be frying eggs on sidewalks by the year 2040. Scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have predicted the world is likely to hit the 1.5C warming limit within 20 years. Human-induced climate change is affecting the weather with extreme phenomena like unusual flooding, gargantuan hurricanes, storms, deadly heatwaves, earthquakes, rising sea levels, and Tsunamis reported from every corner of the globe. It even snowed in the Sahara this year, how’s that for proof of climate change?
Humans are to blame
Humans are “unequivocally” to blame, the report from the scientists of IPCC said. Rapid action to cut greenhouse gas emissions could limit some impacts, but others are now locked in. More severe is rising sea levels, a phenomenon that could be ‘irreversible’ for centuries to millennia, ahead, the report warns. All is not lost yet, instant action involving sustainability and responsibility towards the environment can reverse climate change. It is companies like Tesla who are leading from the front in doing much to reduce human dependency on polluting fuels and reaching a world of sustainability.
The alarm bells are ringing
The UN report on climate change is frightening, it is warning the world is already certain to face further climate disruptions for decades, if not centuries, to come. UN Secretary-General António Guterres said “The alarm bells are deafening, and the evidence is irrefutable. We are at imminent risk of hitting 1.5 degrees in the near term. We must act decisively now, to keep 1.5 alive. The only way to prevent exceeding this threshold is by urgently stepping up our efforts, and pursuing the most ambitious path. Inclusive and green economies, prosperity, cleaner air, and better health are possible for all if we respond to this crisis with solidarity and courage.”
