Advanced technology used to develop self-driving cars is being applied to boats.

“Roboats” are being tested in the canals of Amsterdam โ€“ which could soon transport passengers, goods or trash.

The self-driving watercraft aims to reduce road congestion and make use of under-utilised canals.

A pilot project is expected to go ahead next year.
