Vehicle parts supplier Dana has announced that one of its business partnerships is planning to open an electric motor factory in Åmål, Sweden in late 2022. Called Dana TM4, the partnership joins Dana with Hydro-Québec to make electric motors for EVs. Production is to begin in the first half of 2023.

US-based Dana designs and manufactures motor parts, software, control systems, and thermal and sealing parts for vehicles. Canada-based Hydro-Québec is a public utility that is involved in several EV-related initiatives. Acting together as Dana TM4, they plan to manufacture a range of permanent-magnet electric motors in the Dana TM4 Motive product line.

“Sweden is a leader in renewable energy—98 percent of energy production is fossil-free, which enables us to build our products using a more sustainable footprint in support of a zero-emissions future,” says Antonio Valencia, President of Dana Power Technologies and Global Electrification.
