History of Dubai:
The earliest written record of Dubai (Dibei) is accredited to Muhammad al-Idrisi, who mapped the coast of the UAE in the tenth century AD. Circa 1580, the state jeweler of Venice, Gasparo Balbi documented the pearling industry of Dubai and other cities currently presiding in UAE territory. Though traditionally conservative, the UAE is one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf, with other cultures and beliefs generally tolerated. Politically it remains authoritarian, however, relations with neighbouring Iran have been tense because of an ongoing territorial dispute over Gulf islands. The UAE was one of only three countries to recognise Taliban rule in Afghanistan. Before oil was discovered in the 1950s the UAE’s economy was dependent on fishing and a declining pearl industry. But since oil exports began in 1962, the country’s society and economy have been transformed.
Future of Dubai:
There are many cities that developed within a short period of time, but there is none like Dubai. Dubai turned itself from the sand of the Arabian Gulf to the most developed city with the leading economy in the world; it is a modern, dynamic and much–loved to the people from all over the world. There will be more flights, more transportation, more food business, etc. The theme of this Expo is “Connecting Mind, Creating the future”. This will create a change to connect the Middle East region with the entire world. They have announced some of the breathtaking projects in the future like Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, a stairway ascending 100 meters into the clouds, world tallest Ferris wheel, sea floating restaurants, Ain Dubai, etc. With the success of Expo 2020, UAE will announce the smart city project which makes cities more connected with the world, they will use the internet of things to increase communication, with machines and humans to form a well developed, mobilize and environment-friendly society.
