In 2019, the Indonesian president Joko Widodo announced the construction of a new capital for Indonesia, 1,000 miles away in the middle of the primary forest, in the east of Borneo island. This megaproject aims to anticipate the rising waters that threaten 1/3 of the population of Jakarta, a megacity with a population estimated at 35 million people. Estimated cost of the operation: 32 billion dollars.

The project of the new capital should welcome its first inhabitants and civil servants in 2024, and spread its development until 2040. Discover the project and the future buildings of this new capital in this video!
